This day tour by e-bike on Raiatea is both fun and authentic. It is the ideal outing for nature lovers, culture and history enthusiasts and those who like originality. You will discover endemic floral species, the only navigable river in French Polynesia and the relief and lagoons so specific to the south of the island. The highlight of the show will be the visit of the Marae of Taputapuatea, the oldest archaeological site in Polynesia and the starting point of the great migrations to explore the Pacific. A journey to move, appreciate and observe a sacred place that will enchant you with its mana.

Program and Itinerary

Start from Uturoa

If you wish, your guide will pick you up on the morning of the expedition. He will drive you from your accommodation to Uturoa, the largest city on the island. The tour starts at 8:00 am. You will get bikes to your size and also safety equipment. Then your guide will give instructions on how to use the electric assistance.

You will visit the island using an electric-assisted bicycle. You will still have to pedal, but from now on the climbs will be much easier! All by car with the bikes on a trailer, direction the botanical garden of Faaroa.

Botanical Garden > Gabbros

Your day tour by e-bike on Raiatea begins with a visit to the Faaroa botanical garden where you will see many species of flowers, tropical plants and fruit trees. This garden is located at the end of Faaroa Bay, the only river where it is possible to sail in French Polynesia. You will have a sumptuous view of the island’s relief.

By starting the crossing of the south of the island via a regular climb, you will arrive after three kilometers at the Gabbros, earth and geological curiosities with astonishing shapes.

Gabbros > Belvedere

Five kilometers further on, you will reach the highest point of the Belvedere offering a magnificent view of the mountains and the Faaroa Bay. Here, you will walk the Macaranga Ridge trail for about 1500 m, along the rim of a volcano in a lush forest.

Belvedere > Taputapuatea Marae

Once past the Belvedere, you will finish the cross-country road downhill to the edge of the ocean to find the coast (8 km). In front of you, the southern landscapes open up, both on land and sea. Following the turquoise lagoon for 17 km, several stops will be possible to appreciate the viewpoints or according to the encounters along the way: flora, faa’apu (garden that we cultivate), crafts, pearl farm… At any time, your guide will know how to tell you with passion the history and culture of the places you cross.

Lunch at Taputapuatea Marae

After about 25 km, this e-bike tour on Raiatea reaches its most remarkable point: the Taputapuatea Marae. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this thousand-year-old archaeological site will be an unforgettable dive into ancient times. Local legends and Polynesian religious rites will no longer hold any secrets for you.

You will enjoy this stop for a light and digestible lunch break! On the menu: ham and vegetable sandwiches (with the possibility of changing) with delicious Viennese bread, some sweet treats and seasonal fruit. Several drinks will also be offered (coffee, water, fruit juice). Just what you need to get your strength back!

Taputapuatea Marae > Botanical Garden

The excursion continues quietly on the remaining 16 kilometers. You will simply appreciate the variety of colored landscapes between ocean and mountain. Accompanied by your guide, you will take advantage of his presence to learn more about Raiatea and its inhabitants.

Return to Uturoa

Back at the botanical garden, the bikes will be put in the trailer before returning to Uturoa by car around 2:00 pm. You will then be taken back to your accommodation depending on the location. From this full day, you will keep the mana of the island in your body and mind forever!

You can make a reservation online today using the booking options: number of participants, and the name of your hotel on Raiatea if you want to be picked up and dropped off at your hotel. To begin your reservation, simply click on “Book” and follow the booking process.

Availability Confirmation

Note that we will first confirm the availability of your booking before processing the payment. It means that you will not be charged right away if you use a credit card, or that you will have to wait the confirmation before sending a payment with a bank wire. As soon as we confirm availability, we’ll inform you by email. If there’s no availability on the chosen date, we’ll get back in touch with you to suggest another one.

Deposit and remaining balance

When booking online, you will only need to pay a 15% deposit to confirm your tour. You can pay the balance later, either by bank transfer or on site in Raiatea. For example, you can choose to pay your balance in person on the day of your tour.

Cancellation Policy

Please note our booking cancellation policy. At the very least, a cancellation fee of 15% will be charged. Less than one week before the tour date, the cancellation fee is 100%. If weather conditions do not allow the tour to be organized, and only after confirmation from the guide, cancellation fees do not apply and a full refund will be made.
