Program and Itinerary

Leaving Your Hosting

On the morning of the tour, your guide will pick you up at your hotel or guesthouse in Rangiroa, whether you are staying on Avatoru (car ride) or Tiputa (boat ride). You will then pick up your snorkeling equipment: fins, snorkel and mask. The departure by boat is done according to the time of the tide: the exact time will be communicated to you a few weeks before the tour.

Visit of the Aquarium

The snorkeling tour in Rangiroa starts with a visit to the Aquarium. This site, protected from the current, is the ideal place for an excellent introduction. In these shallow waters, you will observe a very nice coral garden. This first step is also the meeting with small lagoon sharks and all the Polynesian lagoon fauna and flora.

Meet the Tiputa Dolphins

The excursion continues on the ocean side to try to observe, without disturbing, the bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops). After a time of research, you will get into the water. You may even have the chance to swim and play with them. This impressive encounter takes place in respect of the animal and its environment.

Drift Snorkeling at Tiputa Pass

Your guides will then invite you to a drift snorkel in the Tiputa pass. Just let yourself be carried by the incoming current. You will have the pleasure of drifting for a long distance without having to make any effort. Take the opportunity to observe the intense aquatic activity in the pass and also the possibility to see some “big” fish! Depending on the tides, this stage can be replaced by another spot if the current is outgoing.

Back to Your Accommodation

After 1.5 hours spent observing the underwater fauna, your snorkeling tour in Rangiroa ends. The boat returns to its home port on the motu Avatoru and you will be taken back to your accommodation. Thank your guides: thanks to them, you will keep beautiful pictures of Rangiroa!
